I am no swimmer. As those who know me would know, I nearly caused the drowning of my friends at sea because of some underwater panic/anxiety. And the regular so called swimming sessions I had are at merely 1.4m community pool. Sometimes I wish it was deeper like 1.5m up to my neck but thats it, nothing deeper. My sole swimming technique is to swimfloat, a practically all sufficient technique to get through all pools. But that doesnt stop me from wanting to form a Dream Swim Team or to spend a lazy afternoon frolicking in the pool trying many random stunts. The way I look at it, its not going to stop for a damn long time(:
8 Steps for taking underwater shots (I can only think of 8):
1. Get a good underwater camera/phone case for usage underwater of course. (not waterproof, though you may think they are all the same. Well, they are not. Waterproof cases fog and take blurry pictures underwater, while underwater cases fog too but just not as foggy.) I use Iphone 5 for all my pictures but thats because I don't own a dslr. If you have GoPro, even better for you.
2. Practice opening your eyes underwater by dunking in and out of water alot of times until your eyes finally get used to the chlorine(: Slowly increase the duration you open your eyes underwater say from 5s to 10s...
3. Thirsty? Don't worry you'll quench your thirst in this hot weather with some alternative intake of chlorine water through the nose. Dont wish to drink? Get a nose clip for goodness sake.
4. Go swimming at a time when nobody swims or simply get a secluded swimming corner.
5. Spam alot of continuous shots so you can QC the pictures and get great quality shots after that(:
6. No wearing of goggles, fugly on pictures.
7. No point practising smiling, your face will still be all crunched and constipaty.
8. Do really big and sloww swimming actions or at least fake it even if you don't know swimming. This will help buy time while your camera is getting accustomed and more shots for you to decide which shot is nicest.
undercurrents never fail to center part your fringe so efficiently |
pardon my face but my eyes finally finally opened |
