So I look to this video to find inspiration. inspiration to write my fyp report, my ass. In any case, this video is good stuff with all the nice editing,content and insightful interviews. Makes me wanna learn video editing but its just bleak because I'm not even tech savvy. I don't even know how to use Excel properly ): Thats not the point. I feel good after watching this video. If your talking about Steve Jobs as your inspiration, watch this. If your talking about (insert whoever) as your muse, watch this. I like to be surrounded by people who talk like they have a deep knowledge of what they are doing. Because I find it very hard to dwell deep into a topic with the internet and all. Theres too much information and I'm still learning to sieve out what is useful to myself and all. I'm curious I just find out everything but its kinda like, you think you know but you don't really know. sad

Oh gosh, Something boring and geeky here, please don't read if you don't want to or don't accuse me if I'm boring you. I just want to share this interesting thing I was on tonight yea instead of writing my report.
Recently I chanced on this thing. Yep George Orwell's take on the politics and english language. Its a good read and distraction and don't worry I can't say I understand all of what he is saying but his brain is GOOD. How can anybody have such a good writing brain?! I think I might be the first to mention about a 'writing brain' its cool. In essence, hes just saying that modern english is unavoidably ugly and political english is just gibberish. (thats how I interpret it at least)
He advocates instinctive and straightforward writing and he had some rules.
1. Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
2.Never use a long word where a short one will do.
3.If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
4.Never use the passive where you can use the active.
5.Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
6.Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.
"These rules sound elementary, and so they are, but they demand a deep change of attitude in anyone who has grown used to writing in the style now fashionable. One could keep all of them and still write bad English, but one could not write the kind of stuff that I quoted in those five specimens at the beginning of this article."
For example;
"I returned and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all."
in modern english is:
"Objective considerations of contemporary phenomena compel the conclusion that success or failure in competitive activities exhibits no tendency to be commensurate with innate capacity, but that a considerable element of the unpredictable must invariably be taken into account."
What exactly is the message they are trying to convey here in modern english??! This is so funny! Omg.
All things italic are not mine.
