hey dearies! i havent get a proper internet connection for my house, prolly gotta wait till monday night before its fully done. Right now Im tapping on other household's connection so pray I dont get dc!!
Yesss its been the fourth day since I left sg for china. I was so touched and happy when jz,ry and xiu gave me the big big blue comfy pillow lol! my housemates said it was nice and very creative(: haha and many many thanks to what ed,jz,xiu,ry have done for me!! was so surprised to see the insinyur gang coming to send me off despite me skipping infinite outings.
The first day was hell for me(us) really. Reached the Pudong airport, carried/dragged our own luggages of 18kg to the coach before arriving at ntu's china office. Had our first try of jiao zhi and buns and soya milk for breakfast at their lecture theatre. Briefing was so boring and tortuous..kept dozing off because of the midnight flight homg..haha
Walked the whole day with the china agents to view 5 houses before finally settling with the first one we viewed -__- you know they always say after viewing so many apartments, you will always end up with the first one..also dunno why. One new thing I did was to ride on a motorcycle without a helmet. One of the lady staff rode me to the nearest bank to withdraw money to pay for the rental. I was stunned when she told me to sit as a pillion..I mean we dont do that in sg at all..whats worse there wasnt any helmet!! like omg what if i fall off and slid on the road how..i die in china man. Ok anyway I just rode on cos theres no other choices and I wont want to appear stuck up on the first day in a foreign land. Just have to trust her and relax. It was actually quite fun and breezy! rubbed close to cars and cyclists and she avoided all of them tactfully.phew..
When we finally came back to the house, we were too exhausted to do anthing so we stoned on the sofa and just switched on the aircon..in the uncleaned house with unpacked luggages.
I miss swimming alr! I miss having my clothes washed everyday and changing to new clean towels everyday! I miss having less salty/oily food. Honestly speaking, We felt like going home on the first day already! ok i sound like a spoilt child haha but jocelyn told me that the initial phase is often difficult. Seniors experience the same thing too so I guess i can take comfort in that.. (:
Tried the beef la mian in a chinese eatery..not restaurant kind. Omg the portion is so damn big!! Totally couldnt finish even half, the soup was nice (salty) and their beef was nice too! only too little..they dont have spoons for us cos they use only chopsticks and they call spoons shao zi. Im soso craving for milk tea!!
Anyway I was kinda fascinated by the nonstop horning of cars and motorcycles and even bicycles! They have a special lane for bicycles and motorcycles..and they ride quite fast..when theres ppl, they avoid you so you really dun have to worry about being knocked down. When you flag for taxis, they can just go out of lane and stop slanted on the road for you to board. Taxi rides are so damn cheap with first 3kmk only 12 rmb. thats only about 50cents if you share among 3 ppl. Thats why the first few days we practically cabbed everywhere. Tried to take a public bus but directions given were so bad its just not possible for now.
Tried their metro also! its their kind for mrt trains. Their cabins are rather new but their stations are old. They have 2 guards stationed at the entrances and exits and they are always in a Sedia position..until someone ask them for directions or what. It is very convenient to take it to town with only 6 stops..but when you want to get down the metro..its crazy cos the ppl just rush in. Theres no such rule as letting the ppl get out first cos they simply dun care.yup theres too many ppl already.
i miss my swimming buddy too!! :( miss you texting me for directions, miss having you ard.
ReplyDeletethe first few days will be tougher, but the tough only makes you stronger! i mean, one of the reasons you went overseas would probably be to experience independence too yup! stay strong and by no times, you'll be enjoying the scenic views and cheap stuffs there!
take good care of yourself yup! and update often k!! ALL THE BEST ON YOUR JOB GIRL! you can do it! definitely! miss you dearly!
xoxo,
